Good morning. While I was searching for information on movies to watch next week, I found this article about the FBI arresting a man for copywrite infringement. The movie was watched 4.1 million times before it was released. The article does not tell where/how the man received a copy of the movie. How do you think he received an advanced illegal copy of the movie?

After you read the article above and respond to my post, your assignment for today is to find another article about a technology news event. Summarize the article in a word document. Be sure to include the web address at the top of the article. You do not have to print the article, just your summary. No articles about cell phone please.

60 Minutes

Now that you have watched the 60 Minutes story, what do you think? Are there enough safeguards in place to prevent sabbotage through the Internet?

Runaway Girl from Columbus

Have you heard about or read about the girl from Columbus, Ohio who ran away from home and ended up in Florida? She said it was because her father beat her and because she converted from Islam to Christianity. Rifka Bary met the people who she was living with in Florida on Facebook. An Ohio judge has ordered that her usuage of the telephone and the Internet be supervised by the state. He said that her use of Facebook led to her current situation. What are your thoughts on that? I definitely have an opinion on the subject. I'm interested to see if anyone shares my views. If you haven't read anything about Rifka, you can probably Google her and find the articles.

Technology News

What's happening in the ever-changing world of Technology? What's the latest and greatest? Preform a search and find something you think is interesting. It can be anything related to technology. Once you find an article or a news story, cite the web address in your blog entry and a brief description.

Step 2: Open up a Word document. Change line spacing to 2. Put your name in the header. Write a more detailed description of the article or news story (2-3 paragraphs). Include the source of your information in correct MLA works cited format. (Don't know how to put an Internet source in MLA format? Google it!) Print when finished.

Redskins

I heard part of an ESPN news story yesterday about the Washington Redskins maybe having to change their name from Redskins. I had to leave the house before I heard the end. Find the story on the Internet and fill me in on the details. Do you think Coshocton High School will eventually have to change from being the "Redskins?" If we are forced to change, what should be our new mascot?

Text Messaging While Driving

The city of Bexley (near Columbus) recently passed an ordinance that makes it illegal to text while driving. Anyone that is found texting can be pulled over and issued a ticket. The ticket will cost the driver around $150. What do you think of texting while driving? What about talking on the cell phone while driving? Last time I drove home from Columbus, I passed a slow moving car on 270. The woman had a stack of index cards in her hand on the wheel and a cell phone in the other hand texting. It looked like she was trying to read the index card, text in her phone and drive all at the same time. I got my car around her as quickly as possible. I look for the day when the whole state adopts a no cell phone usuage laws. What do you think? Are you guilty of texting while driving????
