Facebook in the News.....Again

Facebook made the evening news again last night. A story about a Centerburg teacher ran on 10 tv. Find the story and let me know what you think. How is the school board going to figure out the truth? Is it possible for someone to "hack" into someone else's facebook account? How should someone be punished if they are the ones that did the hacking? How is this teacher's reputation affected? I'm tempted to delete my facebook account. Do I really need one?

This does not surprise me at all. Maybe he did it and maybe not. I do not use facebook and this is a big reason why. I hope they figure everything thing out because if he did do it thats wrong. But if he didn't then i feel for this teacher and coach because thats horrible.

Obviously the school board needs to contact some represntative of facebook in order to solve this problem. Facebook hacking/phishing is a very common problem but can be easily avoided with common sense. Obviously this teacher (permitting this is his page) has none. Whoever did this hacking should be jailed in my opinion because it is an unethical abuse of someone's image. Depending on evidence that will be uncovered, the teacher may still maintain a positive repuation or be completely destroyed. Facebook is a perfectly fine tool if you use your head. Most people though, do not.

I think that this story is completely outrageuous! What man would even consider doing that to a 19 year old girl anyways? It's totally inapropriate and uncalled for. I'm not sure the the school will ever find out the truth because it's just a he said she said situation. It is completely possible for someone to hack someone else's facebook account. They should have some jail time for not giving the person privacy and iterferring. Some parents probably requested that their child will not take classes from this teacher. He will probably not be able to teach for awhile if not forever. Don't delete it it keeps you up on all the news.just check it about once a day and see what everyone is doing.

First off it is wrong for any person to hack onto a respected figures facebook account. But who knows maybe it was true or maybe it was not. It is un ethical for this too happen even more likely to a school figure. IF the school board took more care to the situation they could at least try to contact facebook to notice any password changes. But I would like to keep looking at the article too see how everything turns out.

It is possoble that someone could have hacked into his facebook account. People can basically hack into anything, if they know how to do it and have the right materials. If the teacher did not post the picture on the facebook account, then someone must have had a picture of him from somewhere. If someone hacked into his facebook account, I believe they should also be punished. I believe that in some ways if teachers have facebook accounts they should make them private, so their students don't know everything about their personal lives.

11541-i think it's kinda weird and a teacher has no business sending something like that. The school board can ask him under a lie detector what he was doing and where he was at on the night the picture went out. If what he says is true he needs to get alibies, or just check his home computer history. Yes it is possible for people to hack into someone's facebook account it happens alot. The person that did the hacking should get charged with hacking (of course) and get what ever punishment the teacher would have gotten. I assume the teacher's reputation was greatly affected in a real bad way. That is up to you to decide if you need a facebook.

I think that he could have or couldn't have done it and that he might have gotten hacked, because i know people who had their accounts hacked. If they think he is a good teacher and believe that he didnt do it they will try their best to keep him as a teacher. If he did get his account hacked its very hard to prove because of all the people who really like him.

I beleive the teacher/coach did not send a nude pic of himself to a 19 year old girl. Facebook is open to anyone which means it can pretty much be hacked by anyone that knows how to. This could've happened to anyone. Maybe one of the students had a grudge against the coach and decided to do this but until the "hacker" comes out and says he did it, which if he has any brains at all he wont because he will be in major trouble for it, then the coach is pretty much guilty.

I think yes it is possible for someone to hack on to your facebook. I have had it done to me once. It is not a good feeling knowing that someone has entered your private space.I believe whoever did should be punished. thats wrong to do.I think that should get jail time for what they did. You would not want someone to do that to you so why do it to other people? I tink facebook is fun it gives you away to tlak to famliy and friends in a differetn way. I also thik that people use facebook in ways they should not. It wont be easy to find the person who did it, but there is away to figure it out and i hope they do. I dont know if i believe him or not either way it was wrong to do.

I belive that it was the wrong thing to do even if it turly was him. What they need to do is fine out if his own facebook was hacked or not. If not then he sould at lest be exspelned from school.

In my opinion the teacher shouldn't be hassled if it wasn't her, and if it was, that decision is hers. If she wants to expose herself in that way, thats on her. Even tho she is a teacher she shouldn't be treated different. She should just delete it and all problems are over with facebook. Yes, people can hack facebook, if you know what your doing with a computer it's not that difficult. If someone did hack her facebook, then there should be a punishment for them, if they find out who the person is. The teacher should press charges and they should go to jail for a few months and be banned from any networking sites. This makes the teachers reputation look bad, and gives her a chance to not be hired as a teacher and possibly get fired. Also in my opinion i don't think anyone should have to erase their facebook. just be careful on what you put on there and don't give out your password, and check it regularly to make sure nothing is different than what what you put on there.

first off thats awsome that the guys name was sweeney like the old teacher for the show boy meet world.....i believe the school will hammer students to see witch one will tell the truth or it will just blow over and the kid will get away. Yes it is VERY easy to hack some ones facebook account it happens alot why some one cares enof to do so is beyond me. As for the punishment for the kid i couldent care one way or the other because if he gets away with it then good for him if not then oh well. some shall look down in the teacher and some may not after the hole event. In my opinion no you dont realy need a face book if you have an email address then you are just fine because an email adress and account does the same thing as facebook (in general) but weather you delete it or not is completely up to you.

12271,
Yes it's possible for someone to hack someone elses account. They should not be allowed to be on the computers or anything with internet
if they are the ones hacking it they should go to jail. The teachers reputation can be affected by what someone could have put on it like if they put something bad. I don't think you need a facebook because it leads to trouble people saying stuff about other people and stuff like that. Thats reasons why i don't have one.

Well its hard to tell if they want him gone they will find something, but if they want to keep him they will make sure it never happend or at least they will say it was a lie.Yes it is very possible to hack a facebook account. They should be punished worsethan the accused. The teacher reputation is greatly affected, but the story does not add up the picture had to have been taken at some time.So that means he did have the picture on his facebook which is inapropriate in the first place so theres more to the story than whats all ready been said. Not really ,but again I say if there is nothing to get you in trouble with your job from your facebook then your fine.

I'm not too sure how the school board would go about figuring out the truth honestly. It's definitely possible to hack into someone else's account. I think if they catch the hacker, he should get at least 25 hours community service. The teacher's reputation has went down te drain along with his credibility. I think that for every individual, the feeling of whether you need a Facebook or not is different. It's more important to some than others.

I think Centerburg highschool/middle school should go into further investigation to see if the teacher really did do it. If he did he should be fired from his job and serve some jail time. Hacking is illegal! It is possible to hack into anything.. you just have to have the brains to do it. The teacher will probably not get another good job because that will go on his perminate record..

10511 yes it is possible for someone to hack someone elses facebook.they should be sent to jail.no yahoo and myspace accounts do just find

I dont think somneone would want to ruin their entire life over something like that. I'd have to say it was hacked but you never know. The only way the school could find out is if they did a trace which the school probably will not do. The person who did the hacking should be punished severly, seeing as this situation could cost that teacher more than just his job. Facebook is a great thing that most people should have, just for the right reasons.

I am not sure which side of the debate is the truth. Things like this do actually happen all the time. Watch Dateline NBC. On the other hand though i think it is possible for someone to hack into someones facebook account. This generation knows alot about computers. The teacher's reputation is definately going to be ruined. I'm not sure if the school board will ever find out the truth though! If someoine did hack into his account, then they should definately be punished. I'm not sure how they should go about the punishment.

A facebook page that gat hack I've heard this story thousands of times with different people. But when reading the article most of the community supported the teacher and clamied he would never do such a thing. Im no professer but isn't the school owned by the community don't the people have a majored in the say of the matter. Even thou all the people on the school board were elected to represent the people then if there own people who elected them say they want to keep a teacher then they should listen or are they going to do the unhonarable and let there own morals get in the way of a job they should be doing.

I think that the school needs to go into a deeper search for the person who did this, they may not find it unless they trace the phoney email to the person who did its computer.

The school should keep on investigating and trying to find a truth to this all, but it may prove to be difficult. If the page was fake then the email was probably fake as well meaning the information on the email is also fake. In knowing that they may never find who actually created this account. Facebook is just like any other site on the internet, it is possible for people to hack into your profile and manipulate your page to start drama or what have you. My page has been hacked several times and things have been changed. I wouldnt be surprised if someone hacked his as well thinking it was funny. The only person i think that could be punished for this would be the teacher because if this is true you dont need someone like this teaching children. If they find out who the kid was I guess he could be subject to suspension or expulsion, but the chances of finding the actual student is slim to none. If the case is saw through and nobody is found guilty for this cause this teacher may suffer. People wont want their kids taught by him for fear of him actually being the one who did this. Facebook isn't really needed but it is good to have. Although there are people that go a little over-board with it it is nice to have to keep in touch with family and friends. I wouldn't let this push me into deleting my account.

The school board could find the truth by contacting the Facebook. Maybe he did it maybe not. Yes it is possible for people to hack into someone's facebook account. Whoever did it should be in jail.

Yea I think it is possible to get your facebook hacked. I do not even have a facebook anymore, it just causes problems. It really could affect a teachers reputation if certain things are said. If you were caught after hacking into someone's facebook, you should be punished with jail time!
