Distracted Drivers

I was listening to the radio on the way to school this morning, and one of the news stories was about how many accidents are caused each year by drivers that are distracted. Distractions include texting, talking on the phone, changing the music and eating. I'm guilty of doing everything but texting. Are you a distracted driver? Do you think there should be a cell phone law in Coshocton?

Our driver's ed instructor, Mr. Yurjevic, was diagnosed yesterday with APL Leukemia. This type of leukemia is very treatable. He is in the hospital and will undergo 15 days of intense chemotherapy. Mr. Yurjevic has taught many of you to drive. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. If you would like to send him a card, here is his address:

The James
Attention: Greg Yurjevic, Room 1041
300 W. Tenth Avenue
Columbus, OH 43210

Don't have a stamp? Bring a card to school, and I will make sure he gets it. It is going to be a rough couple of weeks for him. I am sure that he would appreciate hearing from his former students.

I for one do not have the priviledge to drive, but if I did, I am certain I would be a responsible driver. I believe there should be a cell phone law in every level of legislation for the mere fact that it does indeed cause a major distraction. I hope nothing but the best of luck about Mr. Yurjevic.

I am a non distractive driver I am always focused on the rode except for changing music and eating here and there. And yes, I think there should be a cell phone law. Due to all the accidents that texting has caused.

And I wish Mr.Yurjevic the best in chemotherapy

11541-I don't use my phone at any time while i'm driving. It is a major hazard. I do think there should be a law banning any kind of cell phone use while driving.

Yes i do think there should be a law to keep people from talking/texting while driving. It would save many lives and and keep the accident rate down. Mr. Yurjevic is a great teacher and i hope that he makes it through this tough time. I wish him luck.

This is very true.I do believe most accidents are from distractions. Look at Casey Moran. She will be missed by many. But I will never forget her tragic accident. Being on your phone while driving should already have a law. Its a foolish thing.
I am very sorry to hear about Mr. Yurjevic. I hope he gets better and I will be praying for him!

I personally think there should be a no cell phone law. Considering all the other distractions, texting doesnt need to be added on to the list. While I drive, I don't get distracted easily because I don't change the radio station and I dont eat or text.

I am a resposible driver i dont text when i am driving but i do sometimes change the music but only when im at a stop sign or even a red light. I think its sad seeing kids on the cell phones eveyday then later on that week they are in the newspaper where they either caused an accident or was in one. its not even just teens i see adults everyday on there phones too. but it does cause a very big distraction. Get well soon Mr.Yurjevic you wil be in my thoughts and prayers.

When I drive I am a responsible driver. Considering I only have my permit right now, my parents are always in the vehicle with me so I cannot text, nor would I text, eat, talk on the phone or change the radio stations while I was driving if I had my license. I do think that there should be a cell phone law in Coshocton because half of the accidents that do happen in Coshocton are caused by drivers who are texting. I wish Mr. Yurjevic the best of luck and hopes he gets well soon.

14000 i dont want to drive because of all the car wrecks. yes i think there should be a rule, but not just in coshocton. they should make it a rule all over the world. then maybe i might not be afraid to drive.

I do not drive yet but i do think there should be a cell phone law on driving while on the phone. The reason i say this is because what is the diffrence between texting and driving and drinking and driving. There is not really a diffrence, beacuse you dont have your full attention on the road.

I currently dont have the privlege to drive yet but if I did I would be responsible and I do think there should be a cell phone law in Cooshocton or if you do need to talk you should buy a hands free blue tooth thing.

Yes, sometimes I am a distracted driver. I sometimes talk on the phone while driving, text, or change the radio. I believe there should be a law banning texting while driving. This law would save many lives and keep the roads safer. I wish the best for Mr. Yurjevic.

I am guilty of being a distrated driver, but i feel that there should be a law. It may lower the amount of distracted drivers, but i doubt it. People are so used to doing it that they would just disobey the law anyway.

I'm not a legal driver yet but will be in about 4 month's. To me there shouldnt be anyone out there talking or texting while driving. It's stupid! Dont they see what doing that causes for other people? Evidently no. When i get my lisences i know for a fact that ill be a respectful and responsible drivier. I wish the best luck to Mr. Yurjevic.

I think there should be a law against it. Yes, i am a distracted driver. i admit that i eat, change the music and text while driving. But, that doesnt mean im never a responsible driver. it does end up being a major distraction and needs to be confronted. Best of wishes to Mr. Yurjevic.

I am guilty of all of these distractions. I do think there should be a cell phone law in Coshocton. With proper punishment, i feel like the amount of accidents caused by distractions would decrease.

Yes, I'm a distracted driver. I only text and drive at stop lights and stop signs. I try not texting and driving most times because it is very dangerous.
Eating, drinking, and changing the music is also what I do. But I try my best to be safe about it.

I wish the best of luck for Mr. Yurjevic. He is a great person. He is funny, and a very smart person who has helped me a lot. Not even towards driving, but college ideas.
He is in my prayers..

Nope, I'm not a distracted driver when I'm driving. Poeple are different. Some people can drive just great when their talking on the phone, texting, eating or changing the music. Most or some people can multi task. I do all of them. And also some people can text without looking at their cell phones. No I think it's dumb thats there a cell phone law in Coshocton. I can understand if you live in like Columbus or a big city or state like California, where the streets are busier. But other then that, it's pointless to have a cell phone law in Coshocton when hardly NOONE goes by it.

Honestly, I'm very distracted when I drive. I text sometimes and change the music and sing constantly. I somehow always seem to catch myself before something happens though. Karma will probably bite me one of these days but, such as life. I love Mr. Yurjevic and hope he gets better! he taught me to drive. Or attempted to; I can't be tamed.

Driving is a very dangerous thing that shouldn't be taking lightly. There should be a cell phone law in Coshocton because I known this would stop alot of problems.

First off, should texting and driving be illegal or talking on the phone & driving be illegal? YES..was kc on the phone when she had her accident? NO. She was ran off the road. So get your facts straight or shut your mouth.
